Jokingly some Austrians "translate" the region of Waldviertel as "wood quarters" when explaining to English native speakers, who of course still would be puzzled about the term. (Well, the Waldviertel indeed is heavily wooded, but why quarter? Which is followed by the explanation that Austrians like to divide regions into four quarters, or at least in Upper and Lower Austria this is the case.)
Above you see lovely Pulkau valley - its beauty is hardly known by anybody else but natives of the region. It's different with National Park of Thayatal, where all photos below were taken - well actually this National Park is mainly visited by Czechs and Austrians but it is really unique.
