votivkirche

The red monstrosity you can see in the foreground is something of a "Christmas Punch Disco"; I thought it might be worth a visit but it wasn't really, except that it's nice fore- and background for other motives.

steps

I won't give you today's weather report. (Guess what? Yep, raining again.) Instead a fine example of Homo sapiens behaving like Sus scrofa domestica:

But at least they arranged bottles and all in an interesting way, didn't they?

graffiti

The so-called 'Danube Channel' (really only a dead branch of the Danube river and not a channel proper) is one of the preferred locations for sprayers. This place under the most ugly Rossauer Bridge wouldn't look special at all without graffiti.

smokestacks

It wouldn't be Vienna if not even her*) smokestacks and chimneys were a sight in itself:

  • left foreground: Hundertwasser waste incineration plant, Spittelau (Alsergrund)
  • to the left and right of it, background: I'll be damned if I know where there should come so much smoke
  • right middle ground: Vienna gas and electricity plant, Simmering
  • just to the left of the Simmering plant, background: Steam power station Donaustadt
(*) You know, Vienna is referred to in folk songs as the 'Old Woman' so I think it's proper to call her a she.) (The sun was just rising outside the picture, just to the left of it.)
