For a change I didn't climb up the mountains but down one - well, not actually down from a mountain but a lake, lying 117 metres above medium sea level (= AMSL, the abbreviation used in aviation all over the world, even here in Austria when speaking German):
So this was the highest point of today's journey, from there I went down - not a steep slope actually but I had still many kilometres to cover, which was made even more difficult by the fact that I came across a hunting party. This not only caused bad vibrations (I know that the hunt is unavoidable in our cultivated habitats but I still don't like it one bit) but even danger of being hit by bullets; here's one shell which I found:
Fortunately I cleared this hurdle without any injuries whatsoever; a hare I met was not so lucky - but I will spare you that photo. - Well, finally then I reached the lowest ever measured point in Austria ('ever measured' is important here: the measure was taken at the crossroads you see here, but the field on the right-hand side was lying even a good 70 centimetres lower): 114 metres AMSL! Air was thick there you couldn't believe it, but weather turned and I had to leave lest some rain might have caught me - you know how it is that in lower-lying regions bad weather comes so quickly, with you hardly noticing at all:
So unfortunately no sun for this shot; but I'll have to post it still even though it doesn't look special, else you would never believe that I managed the descent! Anyway, total height difference in metres covered was 3 (three!) metres, total distance covered in horizontal direction was 17 (seventeen!) kilometres.
PS: the way back up to where I parked my car was really tough; I adapted so quickly to the thick air down there that I thought I needed oxygen to cope with the thinner air up there (let alone here in Vienna where my flat lies even above 170 metres AMSL!).
