The fourth of the three Ice Giants ... no: Ice Saints, dear Cold Sophia, is gone (and good riddance), but the only difference is that the rain is now actually warm.
I thought last year was wet.
Wrong. Last year was humid - at most, or rather at worst. This year is wet.
Right now we've got thunderstorms even early in the mornings, torrential rains, and in-between sunshine and hail, and even occasionally snow down to below 1500 metres (which is low for the season); today there was hail without interruption for forty minutes in southern Lower Austria, and just west of Vienna a small tornado devastated a village. I don't know what's wrong with weather this year but it is turning oceanic and even sub-tropical, with that high humidity and all - which one only could expect here in Austria in high summer.
Very well then, we'll see what this year's summer will turn out like - and summer indeed it is already, according to phenology: spring flowers have gone, except of course for higher lying Alpine regions.
