Lately weather was late-summerish, you could almost smell fall in the air - however our meteorologists promise a warm summer week to come, so it is not quite yet autumn (and autumn crocusses still aren't flowering.)
But days are already rather short and even when the day is hot it is cooling down already in the night.
So today I was in Lobau again. Mosquitos are as fierce as ever. I would have loved to pick some apples from those two trees in the middle of the swamps but they're guarded by the fiercest mosquitos you can imagine; thus I settled for cornel berries which are easier pickings.
Even with them though you need tactics in order to get more calories out of the berries than you loose with your blood to those blood-suckers: it is imperative to only pick a few berries and then keep moving while you eat them, then return to the bush and pick some more, then move again, and so on. This don't works perfectly (I still got stinged plenty) but to a degree it does.
Oh, and about this vetch - I don't know its Latin name yet but I will find out eventually.
