autumn crocus

Again the Herbstzeitlose (autumn crocus - Colchicum autumnale), this time flowering in Upper Lobau, and even then most only were buds as the last one of these shots. That is, today being the 27th of august, a full three days later than Lower Lobau which is quite remarkable. (Would be even four days if we don't count today as most buds still are closed.)

Well, it is true that Lower Lobau lies only 150 to 155 metres above mean Adriatic sea level while Upper Lobau begins at about 155 metres above the Adriatic sea and increadibly rises up to almost 158 metres, but ...!
