The vegetation in Mühlviertel, Upper Austria as usual is far behind Vienna - at least two weeks. Trees in Mühlviertel (from 500 metres above sea level upwards) only begin to grow leaves right now, and only a very few flowers are out already, certainly pears, cherry and plums don't yet flower in higher lying regions of Mühlviertel while their flowering season in Vienna already is at an end.

Nevertheless, as in Vienna, vegetation in Mühlviertel is far ahead of the average of the last decades. The apple trees at 700 metres above sea level in Mühlviertel might open their buds in about a week already - which would be at least two weeks early, compared to the average.

So, the landscape of Mühlviertel at this time is rather unattractive while in Vienna there's already much green. There was snow, by the way, up there on monday 7th of april; and friday 11th of april, after an extremely warm day with more than 20 degrees even at 700 metres above sea level, the temperature dropped down to 2 degrees Celsius overnight and it almost began to snow. But this really seems to be the last of what will be seen of winter even in higher lying regions of Mühlviertel; it was already much warmer today, though still cold.
