frost on hawthorn

You know that where I grew up, in Mühlviertel (Upper Austria), hawthorn (German Weissdorn) don't even grows? When I came to Vienna some years ago, I didn't know what kind of bush it is that grows this leaves:

In Vienna hawthorn is very common, in Lobau national park you find it virutally everywhere where it's not too wet (which means mainly the so-called 'hot lands', German Heisslände).

I've shown already some hawthorn in this blog - although more the snails sitting on them than the bush itself, but the latter, too. My very first posting in this blog, by the way, shows hawthorn bushes.

Honestly, I didn't really notice them here in Vienna until this year's summer, it was only the snails on them this year which made me pay attention to these bushes.
