Mushrooms which have reddish colours have a bad reputation - they're all poisonous, supposedly:
But this one isn't - or to be more precise, this one's poisonous if eaten raw (as so many mushrooms are), but cooked it makes a rather good dish.
The mushrooms called Lepista nuda (blewit, or German Violetter Rötelritterling) and I don't often find them where I'm on the hunt, but elsewhere they are reported to be found in great quantities.
But reputation seems to prevent that any of my friends ever would eat this one despite me showing them pictures and descriptions declaring that they should be delicious, especially as I myself did stay sceptical up to the present day: I have to confess, I never ever ate Lepista nuda, not even a tiny one.
