The late august rainy season has begun in Austria.

Our climate is rather equable with plenty of rain in all four seasons (snow in winter, of course) but nevertheless there are some typical patterns.

One of them is, at the end of summer (meaning: now) there's often one or two weeks with rainy and quite cold weather. After that follows usually the so-called Altweibersommer (literally 'old-women's-summer', or correctly translated your indian summer).

Take today's picture - taken in Lobau national park a few days ago - as a requiem to the now gone summer.

The summer's dead, long live the indian summer.
