marille

The apricot flowering season is a huge touristic event in Wachau, Danube valley of Lower Austria; it is a non-event where this shot was taken, in Hainburg hilly region ('Hainburger Berge') - but it is just as beautiful there.
Prunus armeniaca (48°05' N 16°58' E)
PS: If you ever come to Austria, make sure you never (!) use the German term 'Aprikose': it is 'Marille' here, the other word whitch looks so very similar to the English apricot is 'piefkinesisch', which means foreigners talk, and you wouldn't want to come over as foreigner when visiting here, right? 20110402_098__4023742
(Actually, 'Aprikose' is the German equivalent of Austrian 'Marille', for those who might misunderstand the underlying joke above. But it's true nevertheless, using 'Aprikose' here indeed is sakrilege; actually, Austrians might not even understand correctly, they'll know that this is supposed to be used for some fruit, but as to which one many would hesitate!)
