hans im glück

There's a German fairy tale name of "John the Lucky One" (Hans im Glück) who time and again swaps some valuable item for something less valuable (like e. g. a huge lump of gold for an old mare), and still always thinks he's made a bargain.

Well, it has nothing to do with today's photo, except that I couldn't go out and take some fresh shots because I had to take my car to the garage again (which isn't that old but behaves as if its machine were about to break down for half a year now), where I had to wait a good hour, which again is the reason why I'm only showing an ancient shot here, dug up from the archives.

Which however, again, has no relation to that fairy tale, except that I'm about to swap my all-but-broken car against some ... well, not a mare I guess but something worth considerably less. And I've decided to being happy about it, as it is always best to look at the bright side of life.

Or isn't it?
