In 1983, on the 1st of january, a fire broke out in a black pine forest, says an inscription on a plate near this tree. It does not say that firecrackers were the cause but I'd say the date alone is telling us so.
The forest hasn't yet recovered from that fire, and this tree was left as a monument - which might last till the forest has grown back to what it once was.
