Well, there were also plenty of 'em when I took this shot (Dipsacus laciniatus).
But that was nothing compared to what I encountered in Lobau national park today!
I should add that I didn't dare enter that mosquito hellhole for a few days already; and today I wasn't able to stop for much longer than a couple of minutes, even on the driest hot lands mosquitos ate you alive if you dared to stay longer.
This is only as expected; the heavy rain of the last month took care of perfect breeding conditions for those blood suckers. I'll probably leave Lobau alone for the next couple of weeks ... or most likely no, I won't. Who knows, probably I'll try and take a photo of one of those insects sucking my blood?
