Some News That Shook the World, for a change: the future of Austrian Airlines remains insecure.

Our national airline is almost bankrupt but the potential buyer was put off by a veto from Brussels (or more precisely, EU thinks that Lufthansa had been 'bribed' into buying Austrian - true to a degree -, and that the German airline might gain a near-monopoly over some routes).

I can't say that I'm unhappy if the deal with Lufthansa will be blown (how would you think if a national symbold would be given away for nothing and a bribe) but on the other hand I'm a tax payer and as such paying for the deficit. Anyway, they're still flying, and they will be no matter what happens because Austrian won't file for bankrupcy even if the Lufthansa deal won't come off: after all the owner, our government, has almost unlimited resources to cover the deficit - almost unlimited because tax payers do have a limit. I guess we will learn in due corse where exactly the limit lies.
