orchids!

They're late, they are. As expected.

But they aren't late by much, considered how late the prunus flowering is this year: in 2008 orchids were flowering fully by 15th of april while today only a very few plants were open fully, like this one, while some hadn't opened their buds already and most still remain hidden by earth.

Oh, and a by-the-way: this isn't Orchis morio anymore but Anacamptis morio (Kleines Knabenkraut - Wiesenknabenkraut); biologists now have come to the conclusion (by evidence of microbiological analysis) that this orchid is closer related to the genus Anacamptis.

Oh, and yet another by-the-way: prunus flowering in Mühlviertel already has begun up to 600 metres above sea level while where I grew up, at 700 metres, they still might take a day or two to open their buds. Still, that's only a good week behind Vienna which is not much at all.
