Here they are at last: Kuhschellen (Pulsatilla grandis - Gross-Kuhschelle/Küchenschelle, Pannonische K.). My first sighting of this species; they're quite rare as they need heaths to grow which, sadly, almost have disappeared from our landscapes.
And they don't grow in Lobau, as far as I know; these are from Petersdorfer Haad (Perchtoldsdorfer Heide), just a couple of kilometres beyond the city limits of Vienna.
