The Schneerose (Snow Rose - Helleborus niger) is supposed to flower in winter or spring, surrounded by or even breaking through Schnee (snow - nivis communis).
Well - this here grew at 900 metres above sea level where there already was a little bit of snow, this fall. (I think. I wasn't there to confirm.)
But it is obviously bad style to post a pictore of a snow rose with no snow in it. I hope you will my sincere excuses for that.
(And by the way, this wasn't the only snow rose flowering there, there were plenty of them, and they just began their flowering season. It is not unusual for snow roses to flower already in december but to my knowledge they really shouldn't begin in november already. Because this is just bad taste, you know. If humanely possible I will try to get up there again and take some photos with snow in it. But don't let your hopes fly high - there isn't any predicted for the foreseeable future.)
