Herons are a nuisance. They won't let you near even though I only want to shoot them. Well of course: shoot like in taking a photo.

Those here are white herons or, as biologists call them, great egrets (Egretta alba, Silberreiher); usually I get to see more grey herons (Ardea cinerea, Graureiher) but not so on this day.
Lobau, these days, is brown and dead except for birds. All is ready for winter, all what is missing still is snow; but of that we might get some come next weekend. I hope so, and I'm looking forward to it.
