wilder wein

Some very nice fall days we had lately, and some even nicer ones are to follow. Soon the clock will be set back to wintertime and the days will come when sunlight I'll only see on weekends (if then), therefore a few nice sunny autumn days always are a great pleasure.

These plants by the way, American virginia creepers (Parthenocissus inserta) are distand cousins of our European wine and immigrants in Europe where they already have become naturalised. They are called 'Wilder Wein' (= wild wine) even though they certainly aren't wild wine (this would be species Vitis vinifera subsp. sylvestris).
