announcement

I proudly present some new features on my blog.

And don't you think for a second I've done it for you; it is for my own convenience really - but you may browse through them as well if you like, now that I've taken the pains. Thing is that I myself couldn't keep track anymore with my postings, the label feature wasn't enough any more if I wanted to find all my hawthorn entrys, to give a simple example.

Now take a look at the sidebar, just below the poll; I've added, for now, 23 Places to See (and of course they will be updated as I go on writing) - which will include only links to the sights I show here on this blog.

Further there will be links cataloguing the natural habitats shown here (this one is already active), and then also a link to a taxonomic overview where to all species shown in my blog there will be links (well ... most anyway) (well ... many, to be honest) (damn, some at least, okay?). In addition to that I will start a new Herbarium blog soon so that I won't have to bother you here on this one with species you aren't interested in at all. (Maybe then here won't be new posts almost every day like there are now. Or maybe there will; you'll just have to wait and see.)

Weather by the way, to not forget the most important small talk topic, weather was very bad this weekend: cold, and wet, and colder still. I wouldn't have minded much if the rain had fallen as snow but it would be outright sensational if Vienna would have seen snow already in september. This shot of hawthorn fruit therefore of course was taken before the bad weather had hit.

This was by the way an excellent year for hawthorn, it seems. All bushes bear so many more fruit than they did last year when many bushes already began to loose their leaves early in august, while this year they are still partly green even in mid-september.
