enk

This church, the Neusimmeringer Pfarrkirche on Enkplatz, I would consider the most beautiful one of the district of Simmering, the part of Vienna where I live. (Even considering the ones on Zentralfriedhof, the main cemetery of Vienna.)

But I am no churchgoer, I confess; I never was inside.

The church was built in the early twentieth century and not, like was en vogue at the time, in some kind of neo-gothic style or art nouveau even, but in plain and simple neo-romanic style.

Compared to the much more famous Votivkirche on Ringstrasse, which was built a little bit earlier (and which is much bigger, by the way), I would rank this church on Enkplatz with not even a 'proper' name (the name literally means just 'the new church of the parish of Simmering') clearly on first place.

And if you're curious, I'm prepared to answer a question you might ask yourself: no, I wasn't ever inside of Votivkirche, too.
