morning fog

It was cold in the morning, and unfortunately not a single cloud in the sky. Sunrise would have been so much more dramatic if there had been at least some.

Anyway, I got up early this morning and rode out with my bike; fortunately, I got where I wanted to be (right in the middle of Lobau national park) just in time before the sun could rise:

This picture was taken at 06:52 according to the timer of my camera (which is accurate to about +/- one minute), which is ten minutes after the 'magic hour' (the minutes before sunrise and after sunset, German Blaue Stunde) of the morning has begun, and twenty minutes before sunrise.

The morning fog you see was quickly eaten up by the sun as soon as it went over the horizon. Of the frost you don't see any signs in this photo, but frostier ones will follow in time.

Although a bright sunny day has begun I'm really spent now - this is what thirty kilometres on the bike in the wee morning hours at temperatures below zero degree Celsius might do to you. Probably I should go to bed right now, at midday on a sunny sunday.
